  • Jenkins is a really amazing arboretum, with great places to walk filled with beautiful native plants. My kids really find the paths and woods fun to explore. It is on a bit of a hill, so some little legs might get tired. But it is definitely worth exploring as often as possible. Even though it is free, I suggest an annual membership or donations to support them. The plant sale they have continuously during the warmer months is fantastic, and highly recommend. Not only does it support this wonderful nonprofit, but it also is way way less expensive then any of the overpriced mainline area garden centers.
  • Jenkins Arboretum is my happy place in the Main Line area. I have been to a few parks and botanical gardens in the area but this one has a very special vibe and serenity to it. I go there weekly with my child, and we find new unusual plants to explore every time. Even now, when it is cold, the gardens are nicely maintained and you can see interesting species of plants and birds around. The pond with lily pads and ducks is beautiful. They also have great programs for kids and adults, and the staff is wonderful. I am surprised it is free for public as you can tell how much work they put in maintaining the grounds.
