Take a step back in time at Boot Hill Museum, where you can see a living history of the American Wild West. Taking its name from the cemetery that once stood in the area--one that was generally reserved for cowboys and figures who died violent deaths--the museum catalogues a variety of topics, events, and people from the history of western expansion. Visit the recreated city street--which often features costumed western characters--and wander its shop fronts, admiring its displays of period buildings and interiors. Browse its extensive collection of more than 60,000 objects pertaining to the era, including Native American artifacts, photographs, firearms, clothing, and personal items from many of the city's past residents. Keep your eyes open and you may even see a re-enacted gunfight or other historical drama right outside. • I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this museum is. Modern with an amazingly cheesy gun fight. Go see the original Boot Hill. Worth a few hours. We did not stay for the late night festivities.  more »

  • To be perfectly honest, I've never been much of a western person. We came upon this as something different to see while driving across the country. It is worth doing. The all inclusive ticket gave us dinner, a gunfight skit, as well as a variety show at the saloon. The food was spectacular (particularly the brisket). The actors put on a great show. There is also an impressive museum. Highly recommend, even if you aren't a big western fan.
  • Despite the construction, it was easy to access and visit. We got the combination ticket - the meal was filling, albeit seating was poorly done. It's family style, but too many guests saving seats between them and the next person and no staff members advising them to move down to make room so my fiance and I couldn't sit together for dinner. The shows were both great, and I cannot say enough about how they worked to incorporate everyone in the audience in at some point.
