  • We had some extra time in our day so we decided to visit. I’m so glad we did. This is a concrete castle built by Henry Chapman Mercer who also founded the Moravian Tile Company a few steps away...

  • This place is gorgeous! The detail and uniqueness of this home is just incredible. I thought the price of $25 per person for a 30 minute walk through to see 12 trees was a bit steep but once you are there, inside, listening to the guides telling you the stories about the talent behind the building of this massive structure and each piece that was meticulously placed, truly worth every penny. The pictures do not do it justice. Next time we are in the area we will go back because it is easy to miss things when there is so much to look at!
  • I came here by car on a rainy Thursday morning in late June 2022. I was a few minutes late but thankfully I was able to catch up with my tour group who was already in the house in the first room. I had to reserve my ticket for the tour online and boy was it worth it. I would highly recommend doing the tour if you're ever in town. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a passion for the history of the town and the Mercer history. The tour lasted an hour and we went into all the different rooms and learned about the different art work on the walls. It was like a timecapsle. The architecture and art work on the walls were left exactly the way it was when he was living. It was pretty neat to see how forward-thinking and innovative the man was. It was a rainy day and they didn't want us to go outside on the balcony but I asked if we could check it out anyway. I'm so glad they let us because the view was spectacular. It was fun imagining waking up to a view like that.
