Thunder Rock Recreation Area, Ducktown

Very cool to see the dam buildings and the sheer size of them! Many of the informative placards have images of the Tennessee River and where the power stations are located, giving anyone a better idea of how the water is channelled and released to give us the hydroelectric power that helps Tennessee to run efficiently. It is a huge part of our local economy and Thunder Rock is a great resource for anyone who wants to see first hand how it works! Aside from the learning opportunities, the views of the river and surrounding wildlife are quite lovely and relaxing to be near. Would recommend!

Way way too crowded to enjoy being in the " mountains ".... felt more like a tourist attraction...
