Take a turn along the many trails of Purgatory Resort amid the rugged San Juan Mountains. Ten ski lifts and 88 trails mean you'll rarely find lines for the slopes. The extraordinary amount of snowfall here--averaging 6.7 m (22 ft) per year--ensures that the slopes are well-supplied. At the summit at 3,299 m (10,822 ft), you'll be rewarded with views of peaks and bowls etched with evergreens and aspen trees. The resort's ominous nickname, Purgatory, comes from the name of the creek that runs through the region. Plan my trip to Durango with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.
Purgatory Resort reviews
Purgatory was the first place I ever skied over 25 years ago. It still has nice runs and friendly folks running the lifts and facilities. The Covid restrictions were sometimes a problem. Ordering.... more »
Well groomed, lots of runs for all types of skiers. Not super busy, crowds easily managed and lots of care taken to make everyone socially distanced and safe! more »
Absolutely beautiful at any time of the year. Even though it is a smaller resort, there are plenty of things to do in the summer! We really enjoyed the roller coaster and the lift. Talk about amazing views! We decided to take our family pictures here after taking the lift all the way to the top. Highly recommend buying the all you can do activities pass and spending a full day especially if you have kids! Way more activities for kids than adults.
I absolutely LOVE Purgatory Ski resort. I am from Houston Texas and I have been twice. Once for fun with friends in 2018 and once for my Honeymoon February 2019. The prices are fabulous and the slops are incredible. The rooms at the resort are great and i cant say enough about this place and the amenities. I will hands down be back again and again.
