#6 of 7 in Things to do in East Aurora
Knox Farm is a beautiful 633 acre state park located just outside East Aurora, New York. The park is the former country estate of Buffalo’s renowned Knox Family who had called the property the Ess-Kay Farm. It is located adjacent to the historic village of East Aurora, birthplace of the Roycroft Arts and Crafts movement and former home of Millard Fillmore, the thirteenth president of the United States.

Knox Farm State Park is comprised of a variety of natural habitats, including meadows, woodlands, ponds and wetland areas. The park’s 400 acres of grasslands and pastures support plant and animal species that are dependent on these unique habitats for survival. The acquisition of Ess Kay Farm by New York State represented an opportunity to preserve these grasslands, an important habitat that is disappearing throughout the Northeast.

  • Knox Farm is a great place to visit and is very dog friendly. They have two large areas for dogs to run off leash and some very nice walking paths and light trails as well. If you’re into photography is an excellent place to bring a camera. Fences, barns, stables, the old mansion, the fields and some ponds makes for great photo opportunities! Bring your camera, two and four legged friends and enjoy!
  • I absolutely adore this park. We took our two children here for mother's day and we all had such a great time. On top of the scenery being beautiful, I was surprised to find a "Library in the Woods" and loved it!! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to take some time to be grounded in nature.
