Iron Horse State Park reviews
Ran down the Hyak trail, which is a rails-to-trails conversion. It is glorious! 2 miles through a tunnel, numerous gorge crossings via old railway trestles. I loved the cool and largely shaded route. more »
Technically this trail goes all the way to the Columbia River and beyond... Can be soft surface at times, so hard to ride a bike. Stop at South Cle Elum for some history. more »
Great park with the 100 mile plus John Wayne Trail passing through it. We did the trail from Rattlesnake Lake Recreational Area and went 11 miles east and back. The bike trail is very scenic with a slight grade of roughly 2%. There are great trestles that you cross in this section and rock climbers to watch in about 3-4 areas along the trail. The ground was hard and mainly smooth with small rocks and gravel. We averaged 6mph going up and 12-14mph coming back!
Beautiful. Well-marked trails. We took out 5 kids up to Ragnar field and back down. 7 miles round trip. They were troopers and we had a wonderful day.
