In the year 1968, a small ski area in the heart of Utah’s powder country was born –Nordic valley. Nordic Valley is nestled deep in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, however, it is just a few short miles from the restaurants, entertainment and comforts of the booming town of Ogden. Named by Forbes magazine as the third best city in the country to raise a family, Nordic Valley is one of the most accessible, family and budget friendly ski areas, in the country.

Nordic Valley is famous for its ski school, intermediate and advanced slopes, and family friendly atmosphere. Nordic Valley was immortalized as one of the best downhill training ski areas for the 2002 Winter Olympics, which the Austrians discovered was worth pure Gold.

  • Visited twice this week with 15 yr old and 17 year old. We are novice skiers and I took my first two lessons (props to DAVID for getting me on the slopes). My kids has a blast and the Spring Break.....  more »
  • Great for beginners. Small snow shop. Small dinning area. Not a lot of bells and whistles but enough for a fun-filled day  more »

  • Nordic Valley is a small resort, but it is less expensive than most of the others in the area. The Apollo lift was broken down when I visited, so I can't review the main part of the mountain. On the plus side, I think they gave me a discount on my lift pass since only one lift was open. The area open was in near the terrain park. It was perfect for my child who is still a beginner. He loved going up and down the terrain park which offered some good stuff for more advanced skiers as well. I think it would make a great resort to lear how to ski, as the mountain isn't huge and doesn't look difficult. As my child has a fifth grade pass, he got in free and my lift ticket was discounted at 50% after the discount they gave (It was 12.50 for my pass, which is hard to complain about!). I noticed in the lodge near the restrooms they had planned a very large expansion with mid mountain lifts, gondolas and restaurants up on the mountain. Once the expansions are done I would like to return. I would also consider returning if I knew the Apollo lift were functional again. The food in the lodge was good, and reasonably priced. We were even given a small tray of fries on the house! Staff were friendly overall and very helpful.
  • Great local hill with awesome staff. Learning to shred here is a must. Prices aren't inflated and food is good. Bringing your cooler is allowed. Summer time is great too with events like music, etc. happening frequently. Only issue is limited parking and it can be a pain to get in and out of your spot when everyone is stacked up. No disconnecting chairs so this can be intimidating for some. Tubing hill setup with rope tow for easy enjoyment and also has a separate parking lot. A true locals joint!
