Edgecomb is a town in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,249 at the 2010 census. The town was named for George Edgcumbe, 1st Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, a supporter of the colonists. Fort Edgecomb is a Maine State Historic Site.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 20.78sqmi, of which, 18.07sqmi of it is land and 2.71sqmi is water.Demographics2010 censusAs of the census of 2010, there were 1,249 people, 523 households, and 356 families residing in the town. The population density was 69.1PD/sqmi. There were 755 housing units at an average density of 41.8/sqmi. The racial makeup of the town was 96.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.5% Asian, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.3% of the population.There were 523 households of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 31.9% were non-families. 26.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.82.
