  • I grew up in Edison Township and had visited the museum when I was in the Cub Scouts. I found it fasinating at the time. It made me want to be an inventor when I grew up. When I visited again as...  more »
  • We love history and this was a diversion from an otherwise long drive. This small museum is in a residential area, though not far from the highway. You will likely need to parallel park. There is.....  more »

  • If you do one thing in Edison, this is the thing to do. The Thomas Edison Center may look inconspicuous from the outside, but inside it's filled with some of Edison's major advancements. The tour is only a few dollars and is worth the price. The tour guides are quite friendly and do a great job of explaining the museum's contents. While small, the museum is on the site where Edison perfected the light bulb and invented the phonograph and electric train, among many other inventions. There's a trail next to the museum that is great to spend some time on if you love nature.
  • I came here from New York by train. The station is near (though a fair hike from) Metropark station, and there are good directions on their website to find it. Google Maps did not have the correct location, though, and I ended up wandering around a bit before I finally found the place. I got the feeling it would not be easy to find the place by car, either. Better signage would help with that. Once I got here, I was glad I'd made the trip. They give guided tours of the museum and grounds that are both interesting and informative. While the museum is quite small, it's a well-selected collection. You really do get a good look at Edison's life and inventions.
