A nice state park to stop at if driving along the KS Turnpike between Wichita & Kansas City. For locals, it is a close relaxing getaway. Cost would need to include small fee for vehicle and campsite..... more »

We absolutely love the peace and tranquility of camping at El Dorado lake! All of the staff are so amazing and friendly! Jill and Margaret at the front office are always very patient and helpful. The ladies down below the dam at the gate make it so warm and welcoming when entering. They greet me by name and always take time to wave. Vic and his wife have become like extended family to us. Sometimes people arent always thrilled to see someone with alot of kids. However, it is the exact opposite with them. They go out of their way to greet us, ask about the kids, and even give them suckers! If we're minus any kiddos they make sure to ask how they're doing and always appear excited to have us out at the lake. We love camping out at El Dorado not only because its gorgeous (and we have a boat.slip there), but also because the staff are so amazing!

Quiet. Lots of sites by the water. Sites have plenty of room and the neighbors aren't in your lap. Bathhouses were clean. Just a nice place to camp.
