  • How can you not like this place? The house is iconic and the little museum next door is a gem. They even have clothes imitating the clothes of the figures in American Gothic painting that you can use to make your own American Gothic photo. Museum staff person was more than willing to take our picture with the duds on in front of the house. She was a super nice lady---so courteous and friendly. No admission charge, those you'd have to be a real chiseler not to give a donation.
  • I wanted to include this stop while working my road survey assignment in Iowa. As luck would have it? Our very last record was just 14 miles away. Worth the trip, even though the inside of the house is closed for viewing until September 14, 2019. Seeing that house made famous by Grant Wood made it worth it. Loved the grounds and the center.
