    Very nice campground but do not expect to go to the lake as the locals camp on the lake. We were there on a Thursday and found they let dogs their run free and made fires despite a ban on campfires...

    We stayed in South Montecello in our RV for a week. Pros - Wonderful vistas and sunrises. Simply beautiful. Quiet. Good walking, and we saw a black bear track on one of our walks along the Rio...

    We had a great time hanging out and staying the night on the beach. Pulled up close enough to the water, built a small fire (this was in March) ate good and relaxed. Very reasonable entry fee. Easy to drive through the sand and find a spot. (We were there on a Tues) Great little getaway.

    For a five dollar entry fee you can spend the day at one of the most beautiful places in New Mexico. It's a bit rustic, latrines mostly if not completely, but you can camp right on the beach which is so amazing. The water is clean, very warm, and perfect for swimming. We went about 8 days total during our 20 days in New Mexico.
