Build an Ark Animal Rescue, Ellijay

Build an Ark Animal Rescue Foundation serves as rescue for sheep, goats, rams, alpaca, ponies, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, baby chicks as well as dogs and cats (and that’s just scratching the surface) allows them to roam and have a peaceful existence in the beautiful North Georgia Mountain at Coosawattee River Resort in Ellijay near Carter's Lake. Most baby animals are available to be adopted out, though some are sponsored to live here by their owners.

Even more importantly, we also serve as a hospice to many aging animals to allow them to live out their years in peace and happiness.

  • Playing with and feeding the animals was so much fun. The girls had a blast! You know when they all put their phones away, it’s a big deal! So much fun watching them interact with the animals!  more »
  • Bring the kids, let them get see pigs, horses, miles, alpaca, sheep, bunnies, chickens up close. They give you food to feed them. All animals were friendly and kids loved them! We had kids from 2-13.....  more »

  • What an awesome place that offers a unique experience. We visited Build an Ark while staying at the Coosawattee River Resort during our annual family vacation. My daughter enjoyed feeding all the different animals. She was able to feed more animals here than she has ever been able to at any petting zoo type of place. It’s truly a great thing what this place is doing for the animals in their care. The staff is very friendly and it’s obvious they’re passionate about the work they’re doing. I definitely recommend visiting!
  • For our suburban family, this was a very unique opportunity to get up and close with many farm animals. We were visiting the lake and mountains for our annual vacation and came across this place in things to do in nearby towns. Well worth the drive for us. We made a donation and were given a good sized bucket of food to feed to the animals. Some were freely roaming the farm.I especially loved the piggy. Everyone made a great memory that afternoon. Please read the history and building of the Ark if you visit.
