  • Newport state park is a great place for an easy hike. Most of the trails are fairly short and not difficult. You might see an occasional snake or toad in the woods. The beach is also nice. You can get a great view of the stars at night from lot three by the beach.
  • Yes, the stars are amazing, but I recommend that you go while its daylight and scope the place out. Also, get some gear, like a red light for navigating, a blanket, and maybe some to wide field binoculars, but you don't have to have the binoculars as there is plenty to gaze at without them. You might want to study a star map of constellations before you go. Everything is so amazingly clear that I know I wished I knew more. Be prepared. The people there do not like anyone using while lights, such as flash lights or phone lights. So you have to navigate in dark and even with your eyes adjusted, you still can't see. It's a lot of guessing if you haven't gone earlier. But, if this is last minute, I still recommend it. As with anything in Door County, bug spray is a must! I recommend doing this.
