  • This unique museum has closed in Elmhurst and is moving to nearby Oak Brook. I am not sure when they will be reopening but hope to visit their new facility.  more »
  • Make sure you come to this museum before it moves to Oak Brook. The collection is absolutely amazing and worth going to see before they move locations.  more »

  • I admit, I thought this place would be a bit boring. We have a 5 year old son who is big into gemstones and minerals and my wife went to this place as a kid. So we gave it a try during spring break. It was actually fascinating! The sculptures were incredible and the gemstones and minerals they have on display are stunning. Our whole family enjoyed it. They have a great gift shop filled with gems and such for kids (and adults) to take home, so be sure to set aside some cash for it. It's not really expensive, just lots of cool stuff! Overall it's a relatively small museum but it's very well done and you can spend a solid hour or two soaking in the details. Also it's in a great location with an awesome kids playground right outside, alongside a nice little conservatory that was free to visit.
  • Amazing museum! Small enough to be thoroughly covered in 2-3 hours with unique collection of things made of precious and semiprecious stones. Outstanding educational programs, workshops and field trips that you will not find at any other place. Museum store is the kids' favourite! Great selection of souvenirs, jewelry and stone samples for collectors for affordable prices. On top of that, the museum (for now) is located in a beautiful large park with playgrounds, picnic tables and within walking distance to cafes and coffee shops. Would highly recommend it!
