  • Very nice swimming area with grass and sand. Has some picnic tables and shade. Good little lake for small boats. A fun hike of moderate difficulty, good for kids 6+ Camping was nice, you could hear loons at night. Great for a quick trip from Montpelier.
  • This is a fun place to visit. But if it's in the middle of summer, late June to the beginning of september, it's going to be very hard to find a place to sit by the sand to play in the lake. It is packed with tourist during that time of year. There is a campground adjacent to the lake which from what I can tell looks pretty clean. I have walked through quite a few times but I have never actually stayed at the campground. Adjacent to both Campground and the lake is Elmore Mountain which you can climb. It's a fantastic climb but bring a lot of water if it's hot, because it's just a straight steep climb and there's really no flat ground. There is a fire tower at the top so just be careful and I advise anyone with very small children this is probably not the mountain to climb.
