The International Wolf Center (IWC) is a research and educational organization based in Ely, Minnesota, United States, that, in its own words, "advances the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wildlands and the human role in their future." The Wolf Center operates an interpretive center in Ely open to the public, where visitors can view captive "ambassador wolves" in natural surroundings through large windows, and can learn about wolves through a variety of exhibits and programs. This organization lies within Superior National Forest. It also sponsors research symposia and offsite educational programs, publishes International Wolf magazine, and provides information about wolves via its website.

In response to wolf controversies, the Wolf Center does not take a stand on how wolves should be managed (such as by hunting or trapping), as long as healthy wolf populations are maintained. Its policy is to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information possible about wolves and let people make their own decisions.

  • Been there twice now. The wolves look happy. Both times were great experiences. The staff seem to genuinely care about the wolves and are very knowledgeable. They seem to enjoy people asking questions, even though I'm sure they get asked the same questions over and over by different people every day. The first time there just happened to be good timing on my part and the wolves were already at the viewing window. The second time there, I decided to bring other family with. This time was poor timing on my part and the wolves didn't want to make an appearance. After one of the staff members heard how far we had traveled to see them, they decided to give them a couple of extra treats in hopes to lure them out of hiding. It worked and my neice and nephew got to see a couple up close to the windows. The staff literally just made a memorable trip for these kids for a lifetime. I can't thank them enough!
  • This place had a wolf enclosure where two beautiful wolves roaming by the windows at random times. There was also an interactive area for looking at educational information on wolves and similar canines. Really great for children! I thought the dark room which you could hear wolves howling was pretty neat. The gift shop was small but the photograph you can purchase of the wolves were gorgeous. The proceeds go to wolves. I highly suggest if you love love wolves!!!!
