The Official page of Koreshan State Historic Site. The 200 members of Chicago based Koreshan Unity acquired 320 acres of land in 1894 and created their own community over the next few years. They eventually acquired nearly 7,500 acres of land, had the only store in Estero and brought music and drama to the frontier land that was southwest Florida. The settlement flourished until the death of their leader, Cyrus R. Teed in 1908.

In 1961 the remaining few members donated 305 acres of land to the State of Florida for historic preservation. Eleven buildings remain in the historic settlement and give a glimpse of what life was like here in the early 1900's.

  • Absolutely gorgeous spot. Lots of history and nature. We went on a Sunday and there was a flea market going on. It was a nice peaceful time. My Bf is a generator manager so it was cool to see that this place holds one of the first generators ever invented! It was a nice time for my little family to learn the history and see how people lived in those times. We may be back to fish, camp, or go kayaking! Awesome spot.
  • This is a very unique park with its own little Old Village the Koreshan had. We love it we've got seven more nights here and we walked just about every trails very nice clean Park and don't forget about Sunday's Market lots of events at this park I highly suggest it
