Spencer Butte is a prominent landmark in Lane County, Oregon, United States, described in the National Geodetic Survey as "a prominent timbered butte with a bare rocky summit" on the southern edge of Eugene, with an elevation of 2,058 feet (627 m). Spencer Butte is accessible from Spencer Butte Park and has several hiking trails to the summit. The tree cover on the butte is predominantly Douglas fir, however the butte is treeless at its summit. The butte is the tallest point visible when looking south from downtown Eugene.

  • This was a great afternoon hike. The views from the top are beautiful! I'll admit I struggled a bit on the steps as we got near the top. I'll chalk that up to age and being a bit out of shape. Slowed....  more »
  • Nice hike, about 30 minutes or so to get to the top. Wonderful 360 degree overlook of the Eugene area. Squirrels, chipmunks, and plenty of birds spotted along the way.  more »

  • I wouldn’t say the hike is easy...but totally worth it. Amazing views!
  • Great views! Good hiking! Plenty of birds, rodents and reptiles to capture on camera. Not very many homeless camps.
