This was really fun for me. You can buy some sand and "pan" for some Onyx of other semi-precious stones. Interestingly it has stayed the same for a very long time. The headsets are very out of date bu... more »
Incredibly beautiful and very large cave! I am claustrophobic and will not go into most caves. I had no problem with this one. When we were there, they were working on a parking area closer to the entrance. As it was, at the time of our visit, we had to park at the top of a very steep hill and walk down both steps and a sidewalk like area. The steps and walkway were all on a very steep decline and part of it didn’t have hand railing. Due to a physical health issue it was difficult for me to go down and extremely hard to go back up to where we parked. Once the parking lot is done, this won’t be an issue. Once inside, the manager and associate were very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a huge amethyst rock that has been cut open. It is standing up in a corner (secured due to its size and weight). When standing and open, it looks like wings. They allow pictures to be taken in front of it but you have to be careful not to touch it. Extraordinarily beautiful! You can buy all kinds of rocks and gems in their store. Some are cut into shapes like hearts. They also have sterling silver jewelry with some of the beautiful stones and gems. I found a gorgeous heart shaped fire opal sterling silver ring. They didn’t have the size I needed, so the manager brought out a box of inventory they had just received, but hadn’t yet put in the display. Luckily, I found the perfect one! I know if they had been super busy, this might not have been possible. I would have totally understood! If you get the chance, you should go visit!
My first cave ever. Loved it. Loved the guided history tour. Rocks and souvenir shop had a ton of goodies. There was also other activities such as axe throwing and panning for gems as another available entertainment option. Take shoes with grip as a wet incline can be slippery. Also, it's positioned down a hill so be sure whoever you take with you is okay with that. There will be stairs...lots of stairs...but its worth it .
