Create an itinerary including Gumbo Limbo Trail
Find solace from the Florida sun on Gumbo Limbo Trail, a pleasant loop hike through tropical woodlands. Along the way, you can admire lush vegetation of the Everglades, from royal palms and ferns, to the eponymous gumbo limbo tree, nicknamed the "Tourist Tree" for its peeling, reddish bark, reminiscent of a sunburnt tourist. Only 0.6 km (0.4 mi) long and paved, the trek is suitable for children and the elderly. The luscious plant life that surrounds the trail attracts insects, so don't forget mosquito repellent. • Short but very cool trail. I was able to see a lot of wildlife and get some pretty good pictures. Consider liking my review and pictures and follow along on all my adventures. Get Your Adventure On!
  • We went to both the Gumbo Trail and the Anhinga Trail. They specialize in different ecosystem. I recommend both, as both are fairly short and easy hikes. We saw alligators, anhingas, fish, birds, etc on these trails. Watch the heat, sun, and bugs, and come prepared with water and your own food.
