Long Pine Key, Everglades National Park

Probably a much better camp ground than Flamingo in terms of bugs. Sites are widely spaced out with lot of trees and vegetation giving you privacy, but no hookups. The pads are not nearly as long as advertised. My 38' MH barely fit into site 96 although it's advertised for 45'. I was 6" from the undergrowth in the back and only had about 2' before I would have been into the road way. Thankfully, they don't really care if you park on the grass. We say lots of sites that had rigs on the grass. The showers are solar heated, so you can get a luke warm shower later in the afternoon. Recycling is a joke; the bins are rusted or locked shut and say "recycle in dumpster'. How weak is that Everglades NP! Biscayne NP is a fairly short drive away and a good place to take a snorkeling tour of the coral reef. Take all the short little hikes around the Park and don't miss the Nike Missile Base tour. If you get the gray haired retired Coastie, you'll get a great tour!

Nice and relaxing picnic area to enjoy a family lunch. Picnic tables and area for barbecue onsite. Bathrooms nearby. Close to Long Pine Key trail and Campground. Great photo spot.
