Echo Lake Park is a park located along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway about 33.5mi west of Denver, Colorado. The park provides a stone shelter with picnic tables and barbecue grills on one end of the lake, and the 1926 Echo Lake Lodge (gift shop and restaurant service only) and an Arapaho National Forest campground are found at the other. Access to backpacking trails, including the Chicago Lakes trail and Lincoln Lakes trail, can be found adjacent to the lake. The park is part of the Denver Mountain Parks system.Echo LakeEcho Lake is a shallow, oligotrophic lake situated at 10600ft above sea level near Mount Evans in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It formed during the latest period of glaciation roughly 10,000 years ago. As glaciers retreated in the Chicago Creek valley, lateral moraines formed a natural dam to drainage, forming the lake. The ecosystem around the lake is dominated by Engelmann Spruce (Picea engelmannii) and Subalpine Fir (Abies lasiocarpa), with some Limber Pine (Pinus flexilis) on exposed sites.Plan to see Echo Lake Park and other attractions that appeal to you using our Evergreen trip itinerary builder site .

Scenic drive to the lake. It was our first time snow shoeing.. After parking, you start the trail around the lake, which is flat, and ends along the highway. It does hook into the Chicago trail, which... more »
Visited in the winter and all the water was frozen so of course we had a blast sliding around. The scenery is spectacular. No camera can capture the beauty. The drive there was beautiful too. Would be nice to visit when the weather gets warmer.
Beautiful park with some breathtaking views. Decent amount of parking; a quick look at all the licenses plates will prove that people come from all around the country to see this park. Multiple trails, one (good for anyone) that goes around the lake, and another (for more advanced hikers) that goes around the mountain. Careful! Trails can be slick after a fresh snow. There are some nice picnic spots by the lake for fueling up before your hike or resting up before the trip home.
