South Park City is an outside historic museum with 42 original furnished buildings and structures depicting an 1880s-era mining town. The buildings include a church, school, dentist/barber, doctor, coffin-maker, blacksmith, saloon, drug store, general store, homes, train engine and caboose, and other structures that portray life in an early gold mining town in the Colorado Rockies. Visitors can try walk into each building, and try out the furniture, play the pianos, ring the school bell, and stroll along the boardwalk, and, in the process, get a real feel for life in the Old West.Put South Park City Museum on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Fairplay trip planner.

This is the second time I have gone to the South Park City Museum and enjoyed it again. The only complaint I have this time is that it is hard to get around in places when you have a hard time...

This was one of best stops of our trip! E searched many days for cool ghost towns but this is a fully restored town with real buildings and artifacts and really gives you the experience of an old west town. The kids loved it and the price was only $10 or so each, so it was a great value! There were even QR codes on the wall linked to YouTube videos of more in depth material on the different buildings. Such a cool experience!

The places is absolutely awesome! Incredibly preserved local Colorado history with period displays. Very tastefully restored and stocked with period items (many local). A feast for all ages. Climb on historic trains, descend into an underground mine display, see the 'old theatre', enter into all historical buildings and structures. A great outing all around! More in depth stories can be found on South Park's YouTube channel as well!
