Northern Sky Theater (formerly known as American Folklore Theatre or AFT) is a professional theater company that creates, develops, and produces musicals based on the populist culture and heritage of the United States. Located in Door County, Wisconsin, the company began in 1970 as The Heritage Ensemble, performing on the stage of the 700-seat outdoor theater in Peninsula State Park. In 1990, American Folklore Theatre was co-founded by Fred Alley, Frederick Heide, and Gerald Pelrine. In 2015, the company changed its name to Northern Sky Theater.

We saw Dad’s Season Tickets. The show was so fun - great music, great performers, fun storyline, nice theater. Overall a great experience! We will be back next time we visit Door County!

We had such great laughs at the 'Love Stings' performance tonight with a special extra fireside guitar performance afterward. There is nothing like this place, in the woods under the stars. Love it!

Northern Sky is a unique gem of a theater in the middle of the woods. The plays are quirky, fun, and usually have some kind of local angle to them (fictional or historical) always done with excellence. Being outdoors the weather can be a factor, but even in a light drizzle the audience stayed through the show and the actors showed their appreciation at the end of the night.
