  • There is an easy loop trail around the crater or you can go over the top and complete a 3.7 mile loop with an uphill and downhill. Good trail surface all the way. Lots of unmarked trails so be sure....  more »
  • Great daily hike. I have hiked over this crater 778 times in the last three and a half years. Please keep dogs on leash, do not short cut switchbacks and please, if you are going to bag your dogs poop, take it out with you. Don't bag it if you are going to just leave it. The switchbacks on the north side are a grunt but worth the solitude. Most people walk the south side. Lots of potsherds and pit houses on top and in the area around the crater.
  • Really cool place. Great for a shorter (hour long) hike up. Once you get to the top, be sure to take a turn to the right to go over to the second peak where the caves are. The caves we're pretty cool and may be a lot of fun for the kids to play around in. Personally I liked the views a lot more. Happy hiking!
