The University of North Alabama (UNA) is a public university in Florence, Alabama. It is the state's oldest four-year public university. Occupying a 130-acre (0.5 km2) campus in a residential section of Florence, UNA is located within a four-city area that also includes Tuscumbia, Sheffield and Muscle Shoals. The four cities compose a metropolitan area with a combined population of 140,000 people.
The University of North Alabama was founded as LaGrange College in 1830. It was reestablished in 1872 as the first state-supported teachers college south of the Ohio River. A year later, it became one of the nation's first coeducational colleges.

  • Walked through campus while visiting town one afternoon. Attractive buildings . Unfortunately, we only saw one lion turning around inside an enclosure, did not come out in the open.  more »

  • Very beautiful. Open grass, staff and people were nice. Mascot came to the fountain of UNA when they heard our cheerleaders were coming for pictures. They were overjoyed to have them there. UNA students came to help voluntarily. I applaud those to came to help calm the kids down and helped with the security and containment of the area with all the people there.
  • Beautiful campus. The lion habitat was really cool.
