Johnny Cash Trail, Folsom

3.8
#7 of 9 in Parks in Folsom
Johnny Cash’s story of redemption couldn’t be told without mention of Folsom, the inspiration behind one of his greatest songs, Folsom Prison Blues. When Johnny recorded a live album for the inmates, outsiders, and outlaws at Folsom Prison in 1968, it signaled a rebirth of his career.

The art installations that can be found on the Trail are a fitting tribute an amazing musician, and the man who became synonymous with Folsom. The Johnny Cash Art Trail is Folsom’s way of paying homage to the Man, the Myth, and the Legend that is Johnny Cash.

The Johnny Cash Art Trail Experience is Folsom’s ultimate tribute to the Man In Black himself; a larger-than-life exhibit honoring America’s favorite Outlaw and music’s most legendary rebel: Johnny Cash.

  • Its makes you ride close to nature, and away from traffic. Good view of the lake and dam. The trail will connect to other trails that will take you from old Folsom to to old Sacramento. 37 miles one way.
  • So pretty in the springtime! I love to bring my dog here. It is the long perfect walk to wear out a puppy. Watch out for ticks! It is also fantastic for biking. There is lots of traffic sometimes and it comes close to the road, so keep the little ones close. Also, I hope that the development of the trail is eventually finalized
