  • This place was pretty cool! Definitely plenty to see and surprisingly dog friendly!! The staff I encountered were all super welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I spent almost a full day here and I covered just about everything Fort wise. There was also a little beach that was dog friendly if you go right at the entrance. The beach was completely empty and incredibly peaceful. There‚Äôs also a little hose just outside of the beach entrance to wash all the sand off.
  • Last time we went to Dauphin Island we went to Fort Gaines. This time Fort Morgan. It is a great place to go if you like history. Very neat seeing everything up close and personal. It is a lot of walking with some climbing so wear comfy shoes. Take something to drink. It is very hot and all their machines were empty and I got sick later with heat exhaustion. They have a nice indoor museum and gift shop, but to be honest, if I had the choice between the two forts, I'd choose Fort Gaines. Fort Morgan seemed to be a lot of the same things over and over. Veterans and active duty get in free.
