Now in its 22nd season, Florida Rep gained national attention in January 2009 when Terry Teachout of the Wall Street Journal called Florida Rep "profoundly satisfying," and told all of America to "make haste to Fort Myers, where the weather is warm and the theater fine."

  • Snow birds and locals pack the theater for almost every show. Just saw "A Gentleman's guide to Murder" which was very well staged and acted. The Rep, located in th eArcade in downtown Ft Myers is...  more »
  • First time after new management and I give it as many stars as possible. The cast of Barefoot in the Park was excellent and as good as any I’ve seen on Broadway. Staging, timimg, comedic effects...  more »
  • If I lived in the area I would absolutely be a regular. What amazed me the most was the parking right across the narrow two lane street. It was so close. The theater is in a mall of sorts. It's off a short walk-through to the next street where there are a lot of really nice restaurants. Usually going to a theater is a lot of walking, but not here. So easy to get to! The theater itself was also great, with ushers taking you to your seats. They really moved people along without you feeling rushed. Very good crowd control. You never realized there were a lot of people there. I think someone said it seated 400. There were just a few empty seats that I saw, yet it was easier than going to a movie theater. The show was also very good. The only negative was the entryway was very sloped, so someone on crutches or a walker might feel unsteady. I noticed they brought someone in a wheelchair through the side exit by the stage. All told a very pleasant experience and I gladly give it the 5 stars it deserved.
  • Just saw Million Dollar Quartet, an impromptu jam session with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Perkins in December 4, 1956 which also included story of Sun Record Studios. The play was outstanding, actors were marvelous in portraying the actual musicians and just a thrill of fun! The theater itself is lovely, as you come inside a sundry of little shops carrying clothing and accessories to the right, and to the left the lobby and entrance to stage. Stage is not cramped, plenty of seating, good view, and well air conditioned. First time coming and looking forward to future visits. Worth it!
