The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery, an 8,000 sq. ft. public visual arts facility, was established in 1960 by A.E. Backus and a group of local art enthusiasts. A. E. Backus Gallery & Museum reviews
We went to view the collection of the Watermen on a Saturday afternoon. The paintings were wonderful and the social distancing was taken seriously. There is also a lovely gift shop. more »
Always wanted to stop in but its closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! Great collection of A.E. Backus art and those of the Highwaymen. Nice movie about them also. Check out their special exhibits too... more »
This is a beautiful Art Gallery, and an absolute gem in Fort Pierce. I highly recommend you visit if you haven't done so already.
I visited once on a friend's recommendation, ans have been back twice since. Backus' work is simply beautiful, and the history behind his life and artwork is fascinating. This should be a compulsory visit for every Floridian.
