#1 of 17 in Parks in Fort Worth
Fort Worth Zoo was founded in 1909 with just a handful of animals, making it the oldest zoo in Texas. Today the zoo has been ranked as the fifth best in the country by USA Travel Guide and is home to almost 7,000 animals. You can discover an array of exotic creatures, such as penguins, Asian elephants, chimpanzees, poison dart frogs, and parrots, as well as see an extensive collection of native Texan species. To view aquatic animals, visit the Great Barrier Reef exhibit. The zoo features a number of rides and activities, including a carousel, rock-climbing tower, and hurricane and tornado simulators. • I recently took my son here to see all the animals. It was a Saturday and yes it was packed, but we had a lot of fun nonetheless. We got to see pretty much everything and even rode the train. The animals there look very well taken care of, and the staff was helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back to visit soon. We had a great experience.
  • My husband and I went to the zoo on our vacation to TX. It's a great zoo!! Nice and clean. Lots of animals to see. The animals looked well cared for. There is some renovations going on. It's mostly in the elephant area. There's a lot of cool animals to see. I loved the primate section. They also have an area where you can feed the giraffes. It's done at certain times of the day. Admission is very reasonable. I highly recommend!
