McDowell Mountain Regional Park, Fountain Hills

I love this place so much. So far removed from the city but so close. It's beautiful with so many trails for mountain biking and hiking. I get there often for a quick mountain bike workout in the afternoons, but that's the problem. You are charged $7 per day or $85 for the year. What if I'm coming for a quick 1 hour ride? I have lived in many states and went to many state parks for trail runs/bike rides, and none of them have ever charged fees. I just have a problem paying money for time spent in nature. It's there regardless if anyone pays pay or not. Now I know the justification is that the money goes to keep the park "maintained", but it's a trail in nature, so...

One of my favorite places to ride. Nice trails that aren't boring or too rigorous. Just the right amount of climbing and fun mixed together. Be careful by the restrooms, there is always bees. But they are well mannered and leave you alone.
