According to Guinness Book of World Records, Buffalo Trace Distillery represents the oldest operating bourbon distillery. In fact, it is a National Historic Landmark for operating before, during, and after Prohibition. Its origins date back to 1773, and it has a 1792 building still standing on the grounds. The site produces award-winning bourbons, as well as several rye whiskey labels and vodka. You can reserve a guided tour that focuses on the history of the site or take a behind-the-scenes tour. But you don't need reservations for the basic tour which takes you through the barrel-filled warehouses and the production line where bourbons are packed and sealed by hand. All tours are complementary. Ghost hunters believe that supernatural spirits can be found at the site; hear about it during the free ghost tour--with tasting included. Stopped by to visit the distillery on a busy Saturday. Tours were readily available. Staff were super friendly from the time we walked in to the moment we left. Went on a hard hat tour provided by Jarrod. He was exceptional! He knew so much and gave such an educational tour while being fun. Such a great time and so much to learn. Wonderful experience. Thank you Buffalo Trace for your Bourbon and hospitality.
Loved visiting the distillery. We decided to visit on a whim and were excited that we could jump in the tour group without prior reservations. The tour was very informative about not only the Buffalo Trace history but on bourbon history as well. The prices in the gift shop were very fair! Would recommend to anyone interested in bourbon and wanting to go on a tour.
