Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine, Franklin

We had a fantastic time today at Masons! We found 13.95 carats of sapphire and had so much fun doing it. The staff was so friendly and helpful too. One bit of advice, if you’re not familiar with the area, Google and copy directions FROM THE MINE TO YOUR PLACE for when you leave because there is no reception in that area. Trust me! But again, this was a lot of fun. The staff was great and we will be back next year!

We loved ALL of the staff- they were warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful! If not for Chris, we would have passed up several sapphires. He has an eagle eye for them! The idea of going and digging and bringing it down for the rinse and hunt was very neat. They have sturdy walkways from the dig site to the rinsing area. It was very affordable at $35/per person. The only thing that we were bummed about is the rareness to find rubies! Also the shop had very little on display for purchase. Though, that is not what there establishment is for- it is all about the dig! We wished the bathrooms had been de-winterized, but the good ol' porta potty was clean as a whistle!
