Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, Fremont

#13 of 139 in Historic Sites in Ohio
Must see · Historic Site · History Museum
We have President Rutherford B. Hayes' 31-room mansion, the presidential library with his diaries and papers, a museum and the president's tomb. This is all located at Spiegel Grove, the president's 25-acre estate in Fremont Ohio. The estate includes a mile of paved walking trails.

New museum exhibit galleries were installed in 2016. We also have rotating exhibits throughout the year. These include the Hayes Train Special, our annual holiday model train exhibit.

The home was restored in 2012 to how it appeared when President Hayes, First Lady Lucy Webb Hayes and their family lived there.

Come curious and leave amazed!

Admission is charged per building, with discounts available for a Combo Ticket. Per building admission is $7.50/adult, $6.50/seniors age 60+, $3.00/children ages 6-12; free/children ages 0-5.

  • The grounds are beautiful even if you don't go to the museum. The museum is a bit pricey but very informative. The house is pretty cool, especially if your into the period decor and clothing. Lots of neat events to watch out for; for kids and adults.
  • Loved this place. The house tour was great. Our guide was knowledgable and friendly. The museum was interesting and had lots of cool stuff to look at. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is, I would have liked to see the 3rd floor of the house even if its not restored. You also are not permitted to take pictures.
