This is a must-see on San Juan Island. The walk is flat and easy and the story of how the mausoleum came to be is fascinating. Very unique piece of island history.

It’s an interesting historic place. I like the architectural info. About the broken pillar. It’s sad Macmillan’s son Paul didn’t complete it as he envisioned but it’s still a great place to visit. There is parking space available and there is no restroom facilities. Find the place is bit of an challenge . Once you park walk further up in the road and look for signboards and steps to walk up the trail.

Absolutely stunning mausoleum way back in the woods. Set your GPS to go to the Mausoleum parking instead, and you’ll have a half mile walk through the woods past an old cemetery
