Welcome to Depot Park, the junction of past and future located in middle of Gainesville’s Downtown.

What was once contaminated earth, the residue from the site’s history as a rail yard, is now a blooming field of wildflowers and native plantings lined by decorative tracks that commemorate this former railroad transportation hub.

The vision for Depot Park was to create a contemporary public greenspace to serve as Gainesville’s “Central Park”. To be a signature city park located downtown and provide a space for public outdoor enjoyment unique to the city.

There is no charge to play at Depot Park.

  • Visited for parkrun in Saturday morning at 0730. The park is lovely, has good paths, test rooms and water fountains. The small lakes are very prettyGood to run around, enjoyed parkrun.  more »
  • Our granddaughters love to play at the small water-park area, especially in the heat of the summer. The train station makes it very quaint, and the huge selection of bottle sodas is amazing.  more »

  • This park is gorgeous. So much for the little ones to do. I completely forgot wet clothes for the splash park and we still had a blast. Tons of shade, bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. The entire play are is gated. Wish I lived closer we would be here everyday
  • I am impressed with the amount of fun my son had at this park, because he is an older kid. Each play area is different. There is a sandpit w/play heavy equipment, a train that is begging to be climbed on and explored. Plus, the water element and play ground are combined for a rousing exercise and cool off area. Lots of shaded areas to sit and watch too. We loved it! Kudos to the City of Gainesville for a fantastic new park!
