Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum
Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum features three floors of models, exhibits, equipment, and interactive displays depicting the story of offshore oil exploration and production. This retired drilling rig created approximately 200 wells while active, and it's now a self-guided museum featuring drilling platform mock-ups, explanations about pipelines, drill bits, and tubing. Watch a video explaining drilling exploration facts, and take the skywalk out onto the drill floor of the rig. Hands-on exhibits provide interactive education for children. A fun and educational place for adults and kids. You'll be surprised that crude oil isn't just sitting. It's being manufactured by nature over 100's of years. Some of the rigs out at sea are standing on platforms as tall as the empire state building. The museum could use some updating (and a little marketing and programming would bring up attendance) but we enjoyed.

It is a super interesting place. I had no idea of the technis and technology that the oil and gas industry came up with. I liked all the miniature models. The only thing is that the place actually smells like oil; by the end of the tour I was starting to feel kind of dizzy. Overall very interesting and informative.
