The Cradle of Aviation Museum is an aerospace museum located in Garden City, New York on Long Island to commemorate Long Island's part in the history of aviation. It is located on land once part of Mitchel Air Force Base which, together with nearby Roosevelt Field and other airfields on the Hempstead Plains, was the site of many historic flights. So many seminal flights had occurred in the area that, by the mid-1920s, the cluster of airfields was already dubbed the "Cradle of Aviation", the origin of the museum's name.

  • I used public transportation to get to this hotel and it wasn't too bad. The hotel has dining options and a bar. The sprawling lobby is pretty cool. During check in the lines were a bit long. Room was clean and comfortable. Sleep quality was good.
  • I simply love this kind of stuff, and am so darn glad there is a museum like this on Long Island! Extremely interesting and informative exhibits on display. The folks running the show here are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. A “Must Go” situation for anyone who loves Aviation history! Or even just history itself. My only regret is: I wish the place was 10 times the size of what it is today.
