  • The water is beautiful! The park could use another bathroom, but I guess it's okay since so many people that come here are in RVs. We were tent camping, not sure if the high winds are normal or that was just the recent tornado weather we had. Overall, coming back for a hot day to enjoy the water.
  • We really like Jim Hogg park, it's clean, quiet and great scenery. The fishing is challenging. If you are fishing on the pier or off the side be ready to lose a lot of hooks and weights. The rocks are pretty big and will snag your hook. But if you are lucky you will catch some great fish. Saw bass and a gar in the water, caught 3 bass off the side. Also a lot of wildlife, deer in particular. They are pretty docile and beautiful. Couple of things, we did not know only two cars per site are allowed, you have to pay 5 dollars to park in overflow away from the sites and there is only 1 dump pipe for RV's so you have to wait in line for a LONG time if there are several RV's leaving. Also I get the volunteers are there to keep people honest but being rude is not a good way to do it. Maybe start with "good morning" before jumping down someones throat. Bad experience with one male volunteer. All in all it is a great place to camp at and we will go back.
