Get a sense of Americana from the broad, diverse collection at Gettysburg Museum of History, housing artifacts from the Civil War and World Wars I and II, as well as items associated with U.S. presidents and pop icons. Made famous by the popular television show "American Pickers," the museum is owned and curated by passionate collector Erik L. Dorr. See Civil War memorabilia, such as a frock coat and carbine rifle, as well as some rather bizarre relics, including a lock of Marilyn Monroe's hair and a portion of a car seat stained with JFK's blood. There is A LOT to see but it's in a VERY tiny space! Lighting could be better too. They have several very good YouTube videos too.

By far our most favorite stop in Gettysburg. Admission is free but they do ask for donations to help with operations. There are tons of relics from the battle of Gettysburg, and also relics from the World Wars. My favorite room was the Kennedy room with artifacts from his administration. We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, and thanked him for sharing his amazing personal collection with us. A must visit for history buffs and respectfully honors the casualties of the battle, plus the history of the town of Gettysburg. Give yourself plenty of time to take in this collection, I could have easily spent a few hours here.

Outstanding collection of historical and military related items! The owner/curator, Erik was very warm and welcoming. He answered many questions about the exhibits and all he asks is a suitable donation to the museum! This is a must see if you are in Gettysburg!
