  • The lake is located on the way to The Grinnell Glacier. The mountains are set like a screen behind you, and the Grinnell Glacier melts on the mountain, giving you a spectacular view of the waterfall spilling down to the lake. It's a bit rough on the trail.

  • Our family did the Grinnell Glacier hike and tried to get on the boat shuttle back. The boat was too full and we didn't get on and decided not to wait for the next boat. I decided to run out to Grinne...  more »

  • Stunning lake just below Grinnell Glacier and Grinnell Falls. Angel Wing watches over Grinnell Lake from the south. You get the best view of this lake from Grinnell Glacier Trail.
  • We were advised to come here and that it would rival Cracker Lake. It is gorgeous but definitely not a better hike than Cracker Lake. *Bear spray is a must. Lots of sightings. You can do the boat tour (total walking mileage round trip is about 3 miles) however the reservations are tough to come by and tough to make in advance. No phone signal in the park to call and no website to book and pre-pay for a ticket. waiting lists are long, even late August/September. Other option is to take the trail (7-8 miles round trip) which starts behind the many glacier hotel and is labeled Swiftcurrent lake trail (you go around Swiftcurrent lake and then lake Josephine and then some, before arriving at Grinnell Lake.) Cracker lake trail begins at the south end of the parking lot above if you need to change your plans because of boats or bears :)
