My family and I went on a rafting adventure with West Virginia Adventures on our recent trip through the state. It was an amazing trip and I highly recommend others use this great company on their own adventures! We arrived about 15 minute before our trip started, we were greeted and welcomed, given a little history on some of the instructors, and advised where the restrooms were while they waited for all parties to arrive and for us to get started. They provided everyone with life jackets and helmets and made sure they were tightened and properly fitting each person. We were giving a safety and instruction presentation on what to expect when we got to the river. Our guides rode with us to the river on a bus and gave fun facts and history on the area. The bus driver was amazing! Not a job I'd want on those narrow roads, but he maneuvered with ease. We made it to the river as boats were being unloaded and aired up for the trip. We helped carry the boats down to the water. I struggled getting into the boat once I was knee deep in the water. So I got a bit of a rubber burn trying to climb in with one leg in and the other out. Fortunately, my hubby helped me in and we were off! Our guide, Ben, was great! He asked about us, where we were from, what we were doing in the area, and kept us engaged when the river was quieter. He taught us how to move each way, and was very patient with our kids. We stopped to just off a rock, the kids had a chance to get out of the boat and swim, and we stopped for lunch. Lunch was ham and turkey sandwiches, chips, granola bars, fruit cups, cookies, and water. The rapids were fairly gentle on the path we took (Upper New River Family Tour). One was a pretty good one and knocked the kids and I loose into the boat for a moment. No one went overboard, so all good fun! Drinks and games in the bus on the way back to our starting location were fun as well. The whole trip took closer to 5 hours than 6, but still good. Overall, a great experience and something we'd definitely do again!

Great!!! Got to have the adventures of the rapids and plenty of relaxing places between. I love that this is a family owned small business. First time and I was anxious but after the first rapid it was obvious our guide Trent knew what he was doing. He was experienced and knew what to avoid and what to go for. I could tell everyone really enjoys their job. It really feels like your hanging out with friends with the staff. I started calling places our last day in town. Nowhere had any trips that day. They didn’t either. Tristan told me they had something the next day. As I was saying never mind he said if your set on going today, let me see what I can do. They took us out at the exact time we wanted. Then we showed up late and everyone was still all smiles and so friendly.
