About 1,100 animals from 50 different species are cared for at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, where animals roam in natural habitats within the 730 hectare (1,800 acre) space. You can drive through the park with your own car along 15 km (9.5 mi) of plains, forested areas, and hills. Reserve a guided tour of the park to see animals such as giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, wolves, and rhinos up close. Certain tours allow you to feed the animals; others take you to behind-the-scenes areas that are not open to drive-through traffic. The center also offers specialty tours for photographers and mountain bikers. You'll find lodging, camping, and dining at the site. Use our Glen Rose day trip site to add Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and other attractions to your Glen Rose vacation plans.

Fun 2 hours at this drive-thru safari. A little heavy on deer, but we saw other species nonetheless. The giraffe stop is a good Kodak moment. Kids will enjoy the ride, albeit a very slow one.

Hand-feeding those friendly giraffes was a highlight of our trip to Texas. So friendly, would do it again. Fun how inquisitive the animals were as we drove slowly by. Good gift shop at the mid-point. Middle also has a nice little petting zoo where you can groom the goats. We walked a nice little trail at the rest stop too which had facts about the wildlife. Cheetah, zebra and rhino greeted us on the second half.

I only give this five stars because my 9 yr old loved it! While I did enjoy it, I feel it is lacking in the variety of wildlife available. This is my second visit, but the previous was like 20 years ago! Overall would do it again! Pros: *Many animals do walk up to the car for an amazing experience *Animals were not aggressive *Place and animals are well maintained *The trip lasted a good amount of time, and it was not super crowded (this is more of an off peak season) *GIRAFFES!!!! Which you can hand feed šš¦ Cons: * one bag of food for the car, I do feel you should give one bag per ticket! *We were having to ration out food, Iām talking one or two pellets with the occasional indulgence! *Although my daughter loved it, and I did enjoy it, it is mostly deer/antelope type of animals with the occasional sprinkle of variety like an ostrich, zebra, and of course the giraffes!
