Share Our Heritage. We are the people of Western Kansas, descendants of the Native American, the soldier, homesteader, the farmer, the railroader, the teacher, the entrepreneur. Our stories, beginning over 100 years ago, continue and are presented and preserved through the efforts of the High Plains Museum.

Our Mission: To promote, educate, and instill an appreciation of our Western Kansas High Plains heritage through the collection, preservation, exhibition, and educational interpretation of the objects, culture, and ideas representative of Goodland and Sherman County history.

Admission is Free!

Donations will be placed in the Endowment Trust Building Fund.

All times are Mountain Time Zone. Closed on major holidays.

    No charge to enter. It was very interesting to visit the rooms full of local artifacts. The first patented helicopter, who knew. Donations accepted and willingly given.  more »

    I was driving from Salina to Denver yesterday and picked up a brochure of the museum. It was small but infomative - plus free! I was the only visitor. Lots of antique type of stuff I had never...  more »

    Lots of things to see even in the small space. The staff is nice and museum seems well kept. The visiting exhibit and permanent exhibit was perfect for a 20 minute stop. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for an interesting stop along your I-70 route.

    Nice museum. My grandson enjoys seeing the old cameras and they have a rotating display in the front area. Lots of local stuff to see.
