Interesting place with excellent view. Not really an historical site. Although built in 1932 it was not build by the Pueblo people or used as a fort. Still cool with great views and a small shop.

Very unique building but blends in well with the surroundings if the Grand Canyon. The ground floor of the Watchtower serves as a combination gift shop, information center, and viewing location. The different views out of each window was beautiful. They were doing some construction nearby so getting around the grounds was a little inconvenient but when finished will be very nice. The surrounding scenery was second to none and the crowds very small. Each view along our drive was very beautiful and provided a new perspective the continued to reveal the beauty and grandeur of the Grand Canyon. The Desert View Watchtower was the peak of the experience! We saw a California Condor circling the Watchtower. It was well worth the drive from Mather point & the crowds. I'm very happy we decided to take the drive out to this very scenic location!

Amazing building and spectacular views of the grand canyon. We got there after hours and didn't get to go inside, but don't feel like we missed much with how gorgeous the views were. It's a short paved walk, but has a bit of an incline coming back up. Plenty of places to rest along the way or just sit and enjoy the views. Deer and elk were hanging around the paths too to give that extra bit of nature for your viewing pleasure.
