Inner Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park

#5 of 10 in Nature in Grand Canyon National Park
Canyon · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Explore the quite different interior of the Grand Canyon, with shadeless desert contrasting against cool forests at Inner Canyon. Although summer temperatures around the Colorado River reach well over 38 C (100 F), the abundance of springs and streams create pleasant oases, with many sandy beaches lining the river itself. Observe the waterfalls, spring wildflowers, and cactuses as you reach the bottom of the canyon by hiking, mule-riding, river rafting, or via an aerial tour. With the proper permits, you can camp under the rim of the canyon at campgrounds with running water, toilet facilities, and phone lines. Alternatively, you can stay at a ranch with cabins available as part of the mule tour. • The best way to see the Canyon is to get on one of the trails in the Inner Canyon. The views are vastly different and just as spectacular.  more »
