Mohave Point, Grand Canyon National Park

Located on Grand Canyon's South Rim, Mohave Point offers beautiful panoramas of terraced cliffs that encircle the Abyss, sandstone plateaus, and meandering Colorado River. One of nine lookout points along the rim, ideal for watching sunset and sunrise, this spot actually consists of several individual overlooks and is never crowded. If you look directly below the point, you'll see a red sandstone mesa with jagged edges resembling alligator's horny scales. The site is accessible from scenic Hermit Road by foot, bicycle, and free shuttle bus. • Next to the Hopi point view is very similar. More Hopi point improves the flow of the Colorado River. The overwhelming landscape is great.

  • The Mojave Point is another nice viewpoint you will find along the Hermit Rest Drive and Rim Trail, around halfway between the Grand Canyon Village and Hermit Rest. Here there are very good views of the North Rim and into the Grand Canyon in the eastern direction from here. You can also spot the Colorado River along the floor of the canyon from Mojave Point. Note: This viewpoint is very similar to nearby Hopi Point. As such, if you are in a hurry, you can get away with skipping one or the other. We preferred Hopi Point which has slightly better vantage points. Note: There is parking space at Mojave Point if you are making the drive to Hermit Rest. You can also visit by way of the free shuttle service from the Grand Canyon Village. the Red Route calls upon Mojave Point.
  • This place was amazing! What an incredible and spectacular view. Almost made the trip to the Grand Canyon worth it by itself. Definitely try to stop here and see a sunset/sunrise if you can!
  • Probably my favorite spot along the western South Rim route between Hermit's Rest and the main South Rim Grand Canyon National Park. It was really crowded today or I would've gotten a few good panoramic shots with my phone (grabbed the wrong lens for my Canon 🤔😗😚😑😣). Definitely a point of interest along the western section of the South Rim. Contrary to the one negative review about the cost of bus tickets, the shuttles along the rim were free for me. Like any other national park, there is an entrance fee (I think it is $30/year, or $80/year for a pass to every national park in the country). My dad has a senior US national park lifetime pass that was only $80, which is very reasonable. There are private companies operating inside the park that cost money, but they run independently of the park itself. All national park shuttles are free. As far as actually hiking down the rim trails, there is no cost unless you are too out of shape to do it, then you can rent a mule or ride a helicopter, which obviously costs 💰.
  • One of the many lookout points to oversee the grandness of the Grand Canyon. Only accessible by free shuttle bus. Watching the sunset here is highly recommended.
  • A wonderful viewpoint on the Hermits Rd at Grand Canyon Village, excellent views east and west, excellent view of Hermits Rapids and the Colorado River from point, be careful going off the paved path, extremely rocky but worth the view, excellent sunset views as west wall is huge, no problems finding a spot to view sunset!
